Porcelain

Porcelain is a fine, white-bodied clay that is very pure. It creates an excellent background for many kinds of surface designs. By mixing ceramic stain colors into the porcelain, and thinning with water, it is called slip. This slip can be applied like paint before the pot is fired or after the first firing.
